We have our hood of our Navigator already opened up so let's locate where the filter will be in our housing. So the first thing we're going to identify is where this large intake hose is gonna be followed by where the intake box will be or where it looks like a filter will fit into, which in our case is right here on the side. Now your engine air filter is going to filter all the air before it gets into the engine so we can make sure we're getting the best fuel economy and performance out of our CRV. But if we don't keep an eye on it and check it and change it when it does get dirty we're going to be robbing ourselves of the performance and not getting the gas economy that we want to get. So making sure that your filter is clean is going to save you quite a bit of money in the long run.Now I know a lot of us have been offered to have our filter replaced especially if we're at the service center and we're just getting an oil change. Now I will say if you're there it's not a problem to have somebody else do it but I just don't see the point of paying somebody to do something that's so easy that we can do at home. more

Simply just push these tabs towards the outside, away from the air box there. And then we can lift up on this side and then you're going to pull it towards you. Now I do want to start off by mentioning that our Ram 2500 has the Hemi 5.7 liter in it. So this air filter is made for the V8 gasoline engine.Checking and changing your filter and keeping it clean, making sure it's in working order is going to make sure that our truck gives us the best performance and fuel economy that we can get, because our filter is going to be filtering all the air going into the engine. Now, our PTC engine air filter is going to be a direct replacement filter to the engine air filter on your Highlander. Now, it's going to filter all the air coming into the engine, making sure there's no dirt debris or anything else, but at the same time, it's going to make sure there's adequate airflow so that the engine can run at the optimum performance. So if we don't check or change our air filter, we're going to be robbing ourselves of the fuel economy and the performance that our Highlander can give us.Now, the manufacturer does recommend at least checking it, if not changing it every 12 to about 18,000 miles, but you can double check your owner's manual if you need a more specific time. Now your engine air filter is going to filter out the air before it gets into the engine. It's going to make sure it's nice and clean and that it can go through the combustion chamber and do what it's supposed to do. But if we don't check and service our air filter, we're going to be robbing our engine of the performance and the fuel economy that we want to get out of it. Because once the filter starts to get clogged, that much air can't get through and it won't be able to get into the engine properly and it's going to have to compensate for that, the amount of air and fuel mixture.I understand it is one of those maintenance items a lot of people really don't think about, honestly until we're at the service station, getting our oil changed, something like that.
